NICK MATTHEWS ACS is an AFI award winning filmmaker who trained in Europe on productions including the Steven Spielberg HBO series BAND OF BROTHERS and Working Title's ABOUT A BOY. Since returning to Australia, he has produced, edited, and photographed Murali Thalluri's feature film 2:37 that was officially selected for the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. He also photographed US feature BROKEN HILL starring Oscar winner Timothy Hutton, and the 2nd units of international productions including LIKE MINDS, BEAUTIFUL KATE, and ORANGES AND SUNSHINE. Nick was also the cinematographer of three AFI (now AACTA) best short film winners; SPIKE UP (2007), and THE KISS (2010) that won Nick the 2010 AFI for best short film screen craft, and THE PALACE (2012).
In 2011 Nick directed the SAFC funded short film COLLISION starring AFI nominee Kathryn Beck (Official selection at the 2011 Melbourne International Film Festival, Oberhausen 2012, and winner of Best Cinematography Flickerfest 2012). He also directed commercials for San Remo Pasta, Skycity Casino, SA Lotteries, and Adelaide City Council as well as music videos for Warner Music Australia and Steering By Stars.
Nick is directing his first feature film in late 2012, the psychological thriller ONE EYED GIRL which is fully financed through the SA Film Corporation's FILMLAB program with producer David Ngo, and co-writer Craig Behenna.
